Selling a grocery store in Saudi ArabiaList your grocery for serious buyers.
Many people search Google for “grocery for sale” in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah. If you have a grocery to sell, this page sets out what a buyer asks before making an offer, what to prepare, and how the shop passes to them.
- ID-verified
- every buyer on the platform
- After the NDA
- a buyer sees your numbers
- Held at Dhamen
- the deal amount until ownership transfers
What buyers ask
- Daily and monthly sales from the point of sale, not estimates.
- Stock: its value today, and how it's counted and priced on handover day.
- Suppliers: who they are, and their payment and delivery terms.
- The lease: time remaining, annual rent, and the landlord's consent.
- The location: footfall in the neighbourhood and nearby competition.
- Staff: how many, their pay, and how long they've worked there.
- Equipment: fridges, shelving and point-of-sale devices, and their condition.
Prepare these before you list
- The commercial registration and municipal licence.
- The lease.
- Point-of-sale or bank statements for the last 12 months.
- The latest stock count.
- A list of equipment and its age.
- A list of staff and their contracts.
How does the shop pass to the buyer?
- Commercial registration: a sole proprietorship uses the “transfer of a registration” service on the Saudi Business Center: 500 , within 72 hours.
- Municipal licence: transferred through Balady for the same location; it can't move to another one.
- Employees: their contracts stay in force after the change of owner, under Article 18 of the Labour Law.
- Lease: settled with the landlord before the deal.

How selling works on Mumtalakat
- Create your business's listing; you can make it anonymous, hiding its name and brand until the buyer signs the NDA.
- Identity-verified buyers see the details after the NDA, and neither of you sees the other's number or email.
- You negotiate and meet inside the platform, and sign the contract online.
- The amount is held at Dhamen and released only after ownership transfers.
Common questions
Is the stock included in the price?
That's for you and the buyer to agree. It's clearest to state in the listing whether the price includes stock, or whether stock is counted on handover day and added at cost.
Will customers or neighbours know I'm selling?
You can make it an anonymous listing that hides its name, brand and photos; only a verified buyer sees the details, after the NDA.
How does the shop pass to the buyer?
By transferring the commercial registration and the municipal licence; employees' contracts continue, and the lease is settled with the landlord. The steps are in the shop-transfer guide.
When do I get paid?
The buyer deposits the amount at Dhamen, and it's released to you after ownership transfers.
